During his legal career, Brad has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of civil matters, handling litigation in both Washington state and federal courts. He has taken cases to trial in counties ranging from Whatcom to Thurston and has extensive appellate experience in both Washington and California. Today, Brad focuses his practice exclusively on real estate, estate planning, and probate matters, bringing decades of litigation and dispute-resolution experience to clients navigating property issues, family estate planning, and probate administration.
Brad graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1982. Following his family’s tradition, he served as an officer in the United States Navy. As a surface warfare officer, he deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico.
After completing his Navy service, Brad attended McGeorge School of Law in the evening while working full time for a litigation firm specializing in the defense of cities, counties, school districts, and insurance companies. Upon graduating in 1992, he passed both the California and Washington State bar exams. He continued practicing in Sacramento until relocating to Snohomish County in 1995.
In Washington, Brad continued his work in civil litigation as an attorney with Safeco Insurance and later with the Civil Division of the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He also worked with a private Seattle law firm specializing in landslide and surface water drainage issues. Over the course of his litigation career, Brad resolved hundreds of cases through arbitration and mediation and tried cases in the Superior Courts of Whatcom, Island, Skagit, Snohomish, King, and Thurston Counties. He also briefed and argued appellate cases involving municipal drainage, inverse condemnation, insurance coverage, assumption of risk, and employment contracts.
Brad served as a Trustee with the Snohomish County Bar Association and as an arbitrator for the Snohomish County Superior Court. To deepen his understanding of alternative dispute resolution, he completed extensive mediation training with the Dispute Resolution Center, Volunteers of America.
Outside of work, Brad enjoys the many outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest offers and can often be found hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, or exploring in his free time. He also maintains a never-ending list of projects at his century-old home in downtown Arlington and on his farm in Whatcom County. Brad has an adult daughter and son.
